Competition Guidelines

2012 Calendar

  • February 7, 2012 - Competition opens

  • August 24th through September 9th - Exhibition for the selected artists

Accepted Media

All media is accepted with the exception of video art, film, performance art, jewelry and crafts.

Eligibility:

All visual artists worldwide above the age of 18 are eligible to participate. Click here to view the complete competition terms.

Entry Fee

There is a $35 entry fee for up to 5 images; $5 for each additional image.

The following payment methods are accepted:

  • Check - US Banks Checks Only; Payable to Agora Gallery

How To Enter

All competition entries are processed through our online entry system. Printed Call-for-Entry forms are no longer used.

Before you begin the process of entering the competition, please have the following information and materials ready:

  • Your contact information for registration and notification
  • Title, dimensions and medium of each artwork
  • High quality image files of your work in JPG format

Juror

The juror for the 2012 Chelsea International Fine Art Competition is Ira Goldberg, Executive Director of The Art Students League in New York City. Mr. Goldberg has been affiliated with the League since 1979 and became the Executive Director in 2001. He was the recipient of the Carlssen Award at the 121st National Academy Exhibition and is listed in Who’s Who in American Art. The Art Students League: Many famous artists who have shaped the vocabulary of art worldwide have been instructors, lecturers and students at the League. They include, among others, George Bellows, Thomas Hart Benton, Alexander Calder, Helen Frankenthaler, Georgia O'Keeffe, Barnett Newman, Norman Rockwell, Winslow Homer, Man Ray, Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Louise Nevelson, Reginald Marsh, Romare Bearden, Red Grooms, Donald Judd, Roy Lichtenstein, Mark Rothko, Ben Shahn and Cy Twombly.

Awards

Awards will be distributed as follows:

  • Exhibition - At least 25 artists will participate in a collective exhibition at Agora Gallery 530 West 25th Street, Chelsea, New York.
  • Cash - $1000 will be awarded to three (3) artists; each receiving $500, $300 and $200 respectively.
  • Internet Promotion - Twelve (12) artists will be awarded placement of 6 images on ARTmine for a period of one year.
  • Review by an art critic - Three (3) artists will be awarded a one-page review with three (3) color images in ARTisSpectrum Magazine.
  • The awards are valued at a total of $55,000.
