Zeev Deckel

With an elegant simplicity, Israeli photographer Zeev Deckel explores his fascinating world through a lens. His photography presents a distinct perspective, highlighting the dichotomy between old world and new world, pastoral lifestyles in an age of industry and technology, simple satisfactions and incredible feats of engineering. His oeuvre has been crafted over a lifetime, seeing his nation develop despite a tumultuous history while people carry on with their lives. Experienced in still life, landscape, and portraiture, he has enjoyed an extensive career in traditional photography well before the advent of the computer. Currently he has begun digitally manipulating his photographs with fantastic results, creating powerful graphic tableaus or dramatizing a subject by adding or subtracting color. Deckel's magnificently crisp and vibrant photography is his way of understanding and sharing a narrative with future generations.
