Vittoria Marie Vieceli creates lively paintings filled with whimsy and the beautiful natural scenes of her native Australia. She works primarily in acrylic, with brilliant color schemes and tremendously skillful brushwork. Vieceli’s paintings bear an influence from her youth spending time with the animals on the family farm. Her subject matter is instantly disarming and shows the lighter side of humankind. Vieceli’s work also features the lush foliage and sparkling coastline of Australia painted in often-unconventional formats, where elements from the image may extend past the picture plane. In describing her work Vieceli states, “I like my art to demonstrate humanity with a sense of humor. I love to bring joy into people’s lives through color.” Vieceli is very active in her community, opening the Vieceli Art Gallery in 1997 and organizing an annual community street art fair named Chalkfest. Vieceli lives and works in Manly, Australia.
