Capturing the city’s spirit within her lens, photographer Shifra finds beauty in the hustled commotion of the urban environment. Whether photographing the dusty bustle of passing cars, intriguing buildings or lively people, Shifra arrests the unique dynamics of city life in exquisitely invigorating color. Using a digital camera, Shifra tenderly finds the intrinsic beauty of the cityscape, creating intoxicating compositions that whisk the viewer into the city’s bustle. To Shifra, her photographs are not simply compositions, but aesthetic reflections of the city’s cacophonous reality. At once poignantly personal and universal, these reflections are, according to Shifra, "splintered into a strange, imaginary world filled with speckled shapes reduced into astonishing abstraction…a reality that only exists when it is spotted by the eye, and immortalized by the camera." Mystically fascinating, these reflections of reality are serenely beautiful in their abstracted color and forms. Born in Israel, Shifra lives and works in Ramat-Gan, close to Tel-Aviv.
