Danish Multi Artist Søs Beck uses art as a means to connect with her inner self and understand her role in the surrounding world. With stunning Abstract Expressionist paintings and rugged, evocative sculptures, Beck points her audience toward a spiritual world without delineating its boundaries. Yet there remains an intense physicality to her art as the twisting, turning sculptural forms act as a personal form of therapy for the artist. Her paintings employ unusual color pairings, often including a hue that sets itself apart from the palette in order to seize our attention. The creative process that gives birth to these visceral art forms requires that Beck retreat into the wilderness and into herself. “I experience myself as an artist by digging deep in the process where art is created,” she explains. Her creativity knows no restrictions; she expertly works with oil paint, wood, stone, bronze and even poetry. The narrative of her work is one of overcoming pain in order to find personal peace and joy.
Søs Beck resides in Jylland ind Gørding, Denmark.
