Canadian artist Paul Kelley's works are portraits of nostalgia as well as studies in beauty, sensual art and a celebration of the human body. There are bobby socks and high heels, classic cars and black lace, Victorian homes and teasing hints at nudity. With his wide range of subject matter, Paul reveals the dual nature of pleasure: both a love of innocence and an infatuation with the power of seduction. In addition to the human body at the center of many of his works, Paul's love of architecture, furniture, automobiles and musical instruments comes through in his highly detailed paintings. These are works about how light merging with nature, fueled by passion, defines an artist's subject. The inviting images have an enigmatic quality to them; we are curious about his subjects to the degree that we are entranced by them.
Paul's works express a wide range of moods, from arousal to melancholy; they are both commanding and tranquil, and are stirring examples of the heights of pleasure in the visual arts.
