Press Release
“Art is a thin line that unifies the existence of a cognizant reality with experiences based on past judgments.” Peruvian-born artist Nicolas Gracey sees his art as a mirror, reflecting feelings, dreams, desires, sins and regrets – all the joys and tribulations of our daily lives and our spiritual existence. His artworks are based on real events and personal experiences that combine figurative images, symbolism, shadows, lines and abstract shapes. He strives to create a mood through which the artistic plot can unfold and challenge the viewer’s consciousness to roam free. Gracey’s large canvases become visual narratives where stylized figures inhabit a realm heavy with symbolist imagery, as can be seen in the striking female nude Unfaithfully Beautiful. This imagery guides us in the voyage of self-discovery – each viewer interpreting it according to personal thoughts and beliefs. Nicolas Gracey currently lives and works in Columbus, GA where he combines a career as a graphic designer and visual artist. His works are part of collections in Peru, Mexico and the USA.
