Press Release
Monique Luck creates soulful and wonderfully lyrical images in mixed media. Many of Luck’s pieces feature a central female figure, interacting and melding with the elements, while surrounded by blue hues of water and sky in an idyllic island setting. Her sense of color and tone is impeccable as she models the features of figures and natural forms using fragments of found paper; the effect is exceedingly painterly in appearance. For Luck, each artwork is a very personal experience. “I love how color allows me to express what I’m feeling,” she explains, “Each piece defines a moment and a memory. Each piece represents another step in my life.” Luck is a self-taught artist, who is very active in the art world and in her community. She has exhibited frequently around the East Coast and is in a partnership to promote the creation of murals in schools and businesses. Luck lives and works in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
