Press Release
Color, and its capacity to stimulate and uplift the human spirit, has been a cornerstone in the art of Markus Maria Saufhaus since childhood. The brilliant phenomena of color found in the sky, the sea, and especially rainbows serve as a foundation for her vibrant color schemes. Stylistically, her paintings lie on the border between abstraction and representational painting, though she does occasionally paint more realistic pictures. Rhythmic brushwork and fluid lines create a soothing, ephemeral feel while the colors serve to energize each artwork.
Born in Bingen, Germany, and studied in chemical engineering, Saufhaus has been painting regularly in her free time for much of her life. Prompted by her studies at the European Art Academy, Saufhaus has in recent years been pouring her efforts entirely into art. The art world has responded to Saufhaus’s work, with exhibitions throughout Germany, Australia, and Italy, in addition to recognition with a variety of awards and honors. Saufhaus lives and works in Germany.
