Katrina Read

The colorful and vibrant creations of Katrina Read, born and raised in Australia, reflect the beauty of the natural landscape for which the continent is so renowned. Indeed, the various topographies of her home have greatly influenced Read’s art, as has her experience in other creative realms such as acting and writing. Working with acrylic on canvas, she depicts the essence of her subject matter—be it a windswept beach or peacefully swimming koi—with brushstrokes some times feathered, other times crisp. Light plays a crucial role in these images, creating a sense of infinite space, liveliness, and depth in each piece.
