Press Release
JL Soto creates masterpieces combining the two worlds of science and art. His paintings, which he calls “gene portraits,” are digital representations of actual DNA molecules that he has manipulated into gorgeous, ethereal designs. Each picture conveys the miraculous nature of creation. Soto shows his viewers that the basic building blocks of our cells are not only tools for art making, but are works of art in themselves. These digital portraits are timeless wonders for the imagination. Soto’s work reflects both the individuality and profound connection that exists between all living creatures. The exciting dynamism of Soto’s work and his original conception of “portraiture” make his work appealing and successful. JL Soto is a molecular biologist who lives and works in Spain.
