Jane Rusin

Beyond Borders: Exhibition of Fine Art from Canada
January 2 - January 23, 2007 Reception: Thursday January 4, 2007 6-8 PM

Press Release

For the Canadian painter Jane Rusin, color is primary. Whether creating a cityscape, still life, or abstract composition, she relies upon brilliant and eye-catching color. Indeed, Rusin feels that “colors are [the] words” that allow her to speak “a universal language, so anyone, at some point, can hear and understand what [she] wants to communicate.” Based upon her vibrant and bold works, Rusin conveys that, through her eyes, life is anything but monotonous and monochromatic. At times, her forms are hard-edged and distinct, as in "Color drops—Diptych"; at others they are softer and less defined, as in "Vezuviana." Yet, her works are always strong, filled with texture and depth that stem from a variety of deftly applied brushstrokes and media. As a result, energy erupts from these luminous creations, providing for the viewer a much welcome respite from the homogeny of everyday life. Jane Rusin lives and works in Thornhill, Ontario.
