Press Release
The charismatic art of British artist Fiona Viney instantly entices viewers with lovable characters, vivid patterns and brilliant color schemes. Her approach is nearly graphic, combining flat applications of color to her selection of characters that include animals, automobiles, and foods. The dimensions are confounded and space is flattened as patterns boldly envelop the background and foreground elements. Viney began painting at the age of twenty-two, interested in experimenting with the diversity of artistic media. Viney went on to travel in North and South America and while there she was greatly influenced by her experiences and the colors that she encountered. Upon her return to England, her work was met with great interest, receiving a bounty of commissions and invitations to exhibit. Viney lives and works in England.
