EDWARD J. MORÉT

Mélange of Milieu
March 4 - March 25, 2014
Reception: Thursday March 6, 2014 6-8 PM

The paintings of West Indies-born artist Edward J. Morét are richly textured, brightly colored and extremely detailed. Although the scenes he paints contain varying degrees of fantastical elements, they are entirely convincing thanks to Morét's dedication to portraying animals, plants and landscape with an almost photorealistic level of detail. He wants his compositions, “to transcend the boundaries of time and space so the strength of light becomes the central theme of landscape.”

A professional artist for the last forty years, Morét's body of work centers on environmental themes such as global warming and endangered species. Travels to Peru, Iceland and the Amazon rainforest have granted him a firsthand look at the melting of the glaciers and deforestation, which has served to underscore for Morét the importance of his work. “My hope is for my artwork to touch the hearts and souls of many throughout the world,” he says, “helping them to see the rapid changes the Earth is undergoing and learn to care for our home as I do.”
