Press Release

Canadian artist Clôde Beaupré’s magnificent figural sculptures explore the expressive possibilities of posture and pose. These deceptively simple works, created with ceramic, steel and wood, will display a lone figure atop a blocky, earthy podium deep in reflective thought or reaching out to the heavens. The minimalist yet bold forms are complemented by a delicate wire meshing that acts as a field of energy which surrounds the protagonist.

Beaupré is a philosophical artist who explores an array of human emotion in his works, from anguish and confusion to spiritual power and knowledge. These graceful figures are seekers and, by excluding distinctive features, they may embody the journey that each of us traverse on our life’s journey. "We are witnesses and our works are traces of time," he says. In explaining his creative process Beaupré goes on to explain, "I believe that an artist has to talk with shapes and forms, about his life and life itself." Beaupré lives and works in Québec, Canada.
