Press Release
Argentine-born artist Christian G. Brandner draws from an encyclopedically diverse and rich fount of inspiration for his paintings. Traces of geometry, astronomy, cartography, and anatomy - areas of knowledge that focuses creatively on forms - can be seen in his work. Brandner commonly depicts assorted body parts—a lost and found of mannequin pieces rearranged in paint for fresh meaning. With his attention to detail and focus on specific bodily parts, Brandner situates human forms amongst geometrically exact and ideal shapes, reminding the viewer not only of the beauty of the human body, but of the power that shapes exert on our organizing perceptions of the universe. Christian Brandner was born in Buenos Aires and has lived in New York City for the past 30 years. He has painted and collaborated with architects on design projects all over the world.
