Press Release
From her home in Ibiza, Spain, situated on “a magic island in the Mediterranean,” An Bogdan creates luminescent digital-print light boxes and visually rich mixed-media and acrylic images that sparkle with the colors and dancing light that are hallmarks of that ocean vista. Dreamy, sometimes surrealistic figures are infused with bright, often ethereal colors to create a magical world teeming with powerful beauty, boundless imagination, and an exquisite human essence that is all seemingly beyond our grasp. Yet her skillful use of line grounds these images, rendering this otherworld at once attainable, a place where we’re able to, for a moment, catch a precious glimpse of the soul in action.
Bogdan combines traditional artistic tools like pencils and brushes with her “magic wand of technology” in the form of pixels and vectors to create her unique art forms. Drawing on dual backgrounds of science and art, she effortlessly weaves these two worlds together into a symphony of color and light, demonstrating that, in the end, we are all but a “luminous flux of subatomic particles.”
Artist Statement
My art work focuses on our existence as human beings, on our beauty, on our power, on our peaceful and exquisite essence. No tragedies, no pain, no fear, no enemies, just love. Real love. As my tools I can use a pencil, a brush, a piece of everlasting present, a pixel or a vector. Love, freedom, beauty and imagination are my inspiration. They help me to create a pleasure instant, an instant to enjoy. La raison est démodé... luminous imagination is the way. Subjugation is unnecessary, and when the old boundaries fall then the real life begins
