Welcome to the spellbinding world of award-winning artist, Alex Hook, where endless azure skies spread out over crystalline seas and graceful figures relax in quiet contemplation. These large-scale paintings display an artist of incredible talent; with a flawless rendering technique Hook’s brush flutters over the canvas, delineating his subject in a weightless manner. His painting conveys a certain exuberance, beautiful models and striking natural vistas—this is truly the good life and Hook is taking us along for the ride. Muted tones may dominate his portraits while fresh breezy blues couple with earthy hues in his landscapes. Hook's artistic eye is pulled in the direction of beauty, whether human or of the natural world. "The subjects which attract me in my work," he explains, "are feminine figure and the colors of exotic countries [such as] India, Egypt, and the Mediterranean. Educated in art academies in Russia and England Alex Hook’s paintings have been exhibited frequently in Spain, England, and the United States. He lives and works in Mallorca, Spain.
Artist Statement
I'm an artist with an academic background, having had an extensive art training in both my native Russia and England. In addition I have had work experience as a Painter, Illustrator and Graphic Designer which allowed me to explore myself, to learn how to see and reproduce Beauty in my own way, create my own style. The subjects which attract me in my work are the "feminine figure" and "the colours of exotic countries". Travelling, living in different countries, and exploring and painting ancient cultures like India, Nepal and Egypt all influenced my art. Regardless of the subject matter, my "search for beauty" is visible and my brushstrokes are still recognisable... I seek to reproduce the beauty of Nature with a modern approach.
