Press Release
Russian artist Vyacheslav Shevchuk works for a company that produces cartoon films, but his paintings are classic gems of ethereal beauty. Shevchuk studied under the famous Chinese artist Li Dzhin, professor of painting and calligraphy at the Beijing Academy of Art. Dzhin was a student of the son of the most famous Chinese painter of the 20th century, Zhi Bai-Shi. Shevchuk learned from Li the traditional painting of China as well as different styles of calligraphy. In his art, Shevchuk uses the techniques of "free brush" and "fine brush" painting, which include mixing watercolors with black ink. Special media are used: ink, watercolor on silk, and rice paper. The inscription Shevchuk uses is translated as "mountains and water on landscape"; the red seal includes his name and the style of painting. Shevchuk also studied architecture and classical drawing at the Academy of Architecture and attended the studio of realistic art in Kiev. He has participated in many exhibitions and his paintings can be found in private and public collections in Russia and the U.S.
