Award-winning artist Tricia Kaman is a portraitist in the classical sense. Refusing to surrender to artistic trends and modern day affectation, she paints with the painstaking skill of an Old Master. Her subjects are rendered from live sittings, following a tradition harking back hundreds of years which is often neglected in our modern day rush for something new and different. Viewers of Kaman's portraits are privy to the essence of her subjects and the magic of an unqualified relationship with the model. The works are undeniably moving, and are impossible to ignore because of their determination to eschew the superficial to reach the sincere. We witness, through these images, "the beauty of the human form and the divine element of the human soul."
Painting mainly in oils, Kaman works in virtuoso strokes. Her unsurpassed skill in rendering light, color, line, form and texture provides for likenesses which are both naturalistic and realistic. Based in Ohio, Kaman has had her works showcased in juried national competitions for over thirty years and in the last two years her work has been exhibited in no less than eighteen international juried exhibitions.
