Rhythmic, lush color washes throughout the opulent watercolors of American painter Tammy Phillips. Through practiced, careful, painterly articulation, Phillips touches the essence of her subjects, usually floral still lifes, with the developed, organic fluidity of nature itself. The artist allows her watercolors to speak for themselves on her paper, with cadenced, flowing pigments and shapes finding harmony within composition, distorting reality with charmingly beautiful poignancy. Light crackles through the turn of a petal or leaf through Phillips’s elegant, luxurious brushwork. Yearning to depict the inherent beauty of the world, her driving intention is to uplift and edify the viewer. “I want my work to stand out in the art world by bringing positive feelings to people, and I believe it does,” she says. “This is my way of trying to help make this world a more beautiful and positive place.”
An award-winning artist, Tammy Phillips exhibits her work in the United States. She works and lives in Alaska.
