The circle plays a dominant role in Rya Oshpiz’s paintings, providing a structural foundation to inspire thoughts beyond the material world. She has crafted a potent body of work that is ready to take its place in the extensive history of humankind — art that reaches out from within the consciousness to reflect the world and remind us of the wonder of existence. Geometric configurations compositionally nod toward astronomical diagrams and mandalas while remaining positively modern and fascinating to explore. Color acts as a guide, soothing or energizing. The circle remains a powerful motif today as a symbol of cosmos, spirituality, and mathematical perfection. Rya likewise examines elemental matter, the cycle of life, and the natural world while speaking more to their underlying power than to physical form. “The idea is not to control the substance in art,” she explains, “but to let the substance flow intuitively so that creation is formed from the inner truth.”
Rya Oshpiz has exhibited work for over two decades and she lives in Kfar Vradim, Israel.
