Press Release
New Zealand-based artist, Ngaire Dunn, creates stunning figural works that capture her subject's emotional flair and sensuality. The women of her works are unabashedly displaying the power of their femininity in poses that stylistically recall fashion magazines and pin-ups. Dunn sets the stage for her figures by selecting decorative elements that create an aura for each piece, ranging from lush florals to symbolic insects. In her painting Dunn is striving to achieve an emotional response from her audience. "I believe my art stands out in the art world because it is bold, challenging and beautiful," she states. "It doesn't hide from negative emotion, conflict or confrontation, and it doesn't strive for perfection."
Dunn has been recognized for her artistic abilities since early on in her youth, achieving excellent grades in art throughout her education. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Marketing at Auckland University in 2000, and opened her own business in 2005, though never ceasing to pursue her love of painting. Dunn lives and works in Auckland, New Zealand.
