Press Release

There is a vibrant warmth in Michael Wayne’s paintings that is at once invigorating and inviting. With a stroke both fluid and sweeping Wayne draws viewers into his world, building vividly bright forms of imagination and delight that fill his lively surfaces with vitality and spirit. Capturing scenes of serenity and wonder the artist moves freely between subjects, prolifically creating images of still lifes, landscapes, fantastic creatures, and figures tenderly entwined in a sensuous dance of repose. Wayne’s inspired and joyously explosive use of color celebrates the richness of life and love, glowing with the hues and language of dreams. Working mainly in acrylic paints on paper accented with linear elements of watercolor pencil, he also occasionally experiments with mixed media and sculpture in his work.

An Assistant Art Director and Art Restorer with the Marshall Fields Art Gallery in Illinois for ten years, Michael Wayne now works as a professional Art Consultant, in addition to pursuing his own artistic career.

Artist Statement

My artwork is executed in acrylic paint and prisma watercolor pencils. At times I mix other mediums such as oil paints, sand and crushed glass to get different effects in my art. There are times when I use three dimensional effects to bring out the vibrant colors and images of people or still lifes. I have been fascinated by art since I was young, and I have always loved to experiment with mediums and patterns. I love to keep a rhythm flowing in my work, with little designs and patterns that keep you guessing at what you are really looking at. This adds a level of duplicity and mystery which helps to draw the viewer in, and it suits my creative method, in which constant change is a vital element.
