Press Release
Marta G. Ismail paints the natural world with emotional vivacity, instinctual precision and a surrealist perspective that ignites her landscapes. Originally from Cuba, Ismail says that her work reflects her early memories of the bright colors and flavors of her homeland, as well as the inner workings of her emotional self. Ismail’s work combines the reality of everyday objects with a dreamlike compositional style that places objects in a realm that exudes emotion. Her colorful canvases speak to the viewer’s design sensibility as well as to his imagination. As Ismail states, “”My work…is an interpretation and juxtaposition of conventional forms to create a vision brimming with pleasant fantasies, where what is real is irrelevant and dreams modify and guide everything.” Marta Ismail lives and works in Miami, Florida.
