For self-taught American painter Mark Salevitz, painting began as a way to record his life aesthetically, but quickly morphed into a liberating passion. Kaleidoscopic, exuberant panes of color burst forth in vivid compositions, absorbing in their soft, painterly realism. Irresistibly innocent in their lush line work and curvilinear shapes, Salevitz’s paintings are largely lyrically melodic reminisces of simple, yet fleetingly beautiful moments in life. Energetically soulful in his sense of brilliant brushwork, the artist teases the modest essence of his subjects and translates it into gently exquisite beauty. Salevitz has learned his artistry from a fervent love of the people and places that surround him. “I began painting with the desire to capture the memories of places my family and I have had the opportunity to visit,” he says. “It brings me great joy to share the uniqueness of cultural experiences through my work.”
Mark Salevitz’s works are collected throughout the United States and Europe.
