Press Release
Leopoldine Van Daalen creates imagery that explores the elemental and timeless qualities of nature. The viewer, when confronted with Van Daalen’s work, is offered a serene glimpse at a variety of cool blue hues that recall the beauty and power of water, weather, and edifices, both natural and man-made. She often employs textural, organic forms and strokes in combination with hard-edged geometric shapes that open the possibility for viewer's interpretation.
Van Daalen grew up in the midst of natural wonder, in Tarbes, a rural village in the south of France. She left the country life to attend Michel de Montaigne University in Bordeaux. During her time there Van Daalen studied art and fashion, and explored her new urban surroundings, eventually gaining an affinity for the color blue. Van Daalen lives and works in London.
