Press Release
The geometric, intensely colorful paintings of Jose Maria Casas are works that combine simplicity with depth and complexity with whimsy. Inspired by artists like Kandinsky and other Abstract Expressionists, Casas uses color to suggest shape and makes clever use of negative space. The artist states that he is “in love with simple forms and compositions,” as he feels they arrest the viewer’s attention even more than “complex and overcharged designs.” His minimalist approach to painting creates a composition that is at once bold and subtle. He creates a delicate balance between colors, emphasizing their relationships between each other and highlighting the balance between them. Jose Casas is a young artist currently living and working in Mar del Plata, Argentina. He has exhibited his works in both solo and group exhibitions throughout Argentina. His work is owned by private collectors around the world.
