Press Release
The interaction of sea and land stirs tremendous inspiration in artists, as Jörg Eydner’s work amply demonstrates. He explores these beautiful environs with a contemplative approach to crafting art. Eydner carefully renders scenes of majestic trees populating the rolling seaside hills under wispy clouds. His approach is noticeably modified for different subjects, navigating between delicate brushstrokes and highly textured abstractions. His choice of media also affects the imagery, often using oil paint or pastel on wood, linen, or paper. Speaking to us through color, Eydner orchestrates poignant tableaux with muted pastels paired with brilliant goldenrod, violet, and azure. His artwork is a personal means to comprehend and appreciate the magnificent forces at work in our world. “Art is a continuous questioning of reality,” he explains, “Catching its reflection in the work of my hands.”
Beyond his two-dimensional work, Eydner is also a consummate sculptor and musician. He has exhibited frequently in his native Germany, and has recently acquired representation in New York. Eydner lives and works in Dresden.
