Press Release
Inspired by the masters and educated in Psychology and Philosophy, the distinctive art of Erika Suzannah Avery deals primarily with topics concerning the human condition. By reducing the human features to a congregation of symbols, Avery is free to create imagery that is at once childlike and refined, rich in color application yet clean and graphic. Her investigations are of psychological themes and observations of social intercourse, yet her mass appeal is in conveying her thematic choices with stylish simplicity accessible to all viewers. For Avery art has been “a catharsis for certain emotions to be brought out and examined,” she explains, “as well as a way to share with the world lessons that have been learned—some of which were pleasant, some not.” Her passion for art began at the young age of 3, and since then she has sold over 500 works, exhibiting from New York to Florida.
