Working masterfully with color, light and form, Christine Marie Catherine is a highly accomplished artist whose work reaches beyond the boundaries of conventional painting to touch something deeper and more profound. Working in oils or acrylic on canvas and experimenting freely with Indian ink on paper, an often repeated theme is the sphere or ‘bubble’ which appears on the surfaces on which she paints, capsules of energy and movement. Christine Marie Catherine is self-taught. Her method is a relaxation of rules and thoughts so that the paint can flow unhindered and develop organically. A large part of this process appears in the brushstrokes – wide, expressive strokes that draw paint with them in circles, in lines, drawing out the sensual qualities of the paint and hue. The colors are joyous, often highly intense, encapsulating Christine Marie Catherine’s own joie de vivre.
Born in the Basque country in South West France, Christine Marie Catherine paints full time, channeling her immense energy into her work.
