Press Release
Caryn Singer’s unchained digital prints are an extraordinary leap into the unknown through a psychedelic prism. Her works pulse with energy and glitter with endless Technicolor hues, spiraling and shifting like a kaleidoscope. There is a strong sense of depth in Singer’s work. As our eyes plunge in we discover tiny shapes that inhabit the edges and effervescently bubble forth, overlapping and forming ever-larger patterns. Joyous palettes infuse each work with a sense of energy and optimism; these images brighten up the room with their presence. Singer’s creative life benefits greatly from her resolute belief in the limitless possibilities of expression through abstract art. “When I create abstract artwork it takes me to another realm,” she states. Singer uses powerful digital programs to craft each piece; from start to finish she lets the artwork come to life, negotiating visual cues as the work evolves. The images are then printed on large canvases in high fidelity.
Singer holds a BFA from Syracuse University. She lives and works in Garnerville, NY.
Artist Statement
As an abstract artist, I use the computer as my canvas. I enjoy creating abstract pieces of artwork because it is always unexpected and unplanned. The end result is something colorful and bold. I enjoy the process of letting the artwork unfold and come together rather than planning ahead what I'm going to create. The computer has enabled me to create with limitless possibilities and limitless boundaries. The wonderful thing about abstract art is that it can be a multitude of different things to different people, and this is a quality I try to include in my work, to draw people in and engage them as viewers.
