Press Release
With rhythmic, textured brushwork, Carolina De Medina paints with great deliberation. She imbues her works with a sense of power and beauty. Her palette consists of highly saturated hues, which create a consistent chroma throughout her superb acrylic artwork. Blending Expressionism and Realism in her uniquely personal style, she creates the possibility for a profound connection between the viewer and her paintings. Carolina has been influenced by the 19th Century masters: Matisse, Van Gogh and Manet, among others. She also loves the 20th Century artists Hockney, Welliver, Goldsworthy and many others. Clearly she is drawn to great colorists, great draftsmen, and great lovers of the natural world. However, the core of her works is her ability to reveal the evocative beauty of any and all things, both natural and invented. “For me, painting is about expressing the essence of Creation,” she says.
Carolina De Medina has studied in prestigious art schools with many excellent artist-teachers, and has exhibited throughout the United States and Mexico..
Artist Statement
For me, Painting is about communicating the essence of the beauty of CREATION. I find beauty in all natural things, and some of my favorite subjects are luscious fruits and vegetables, the rocky coasts and tide pools of Maine, exotic trees and flowers, and people of character. Equally, I recognize that there is also much beauty in manmade objects, and I feel that my energetic expressionistic realist style is well suited to this wide range. I try to combine all of these disparate elements in my work, and in the end, my purpose is to reveal God - as much to myself as to others.
