The futuristic abstract renderings of Venezuelan-American artist Carlos Maneiro are as imbued with meaning as they are compelling in visual design and execution. Simple abstractions are laden with historical messages that explore the inevitable struggle between societal impulse and the universal framework that ultimately comes to define our world. The artist’s approach to painting is unique, as he relies on the natural chemical reactions created by different oil based colors to set the tone before he intervenes and finishes the composition. What results are organic, dynamic compositions that speak both of the modern human experience and a wider, more expansive vision of time and space. Maneiro describes his artistic vision as “balanced chaos,” achieved as he explores the corruption, narrow-mindedness, and overall dissonance of the modern age through a lens of deeper, spiritually rooted essence. As he explains, “Finding balance and equilibrium is this generation’s challenge. Through the composition and execution of my work, I try to convey an organized chaos and meaningful disaster [that’s reflective of] societies across the world.”
Carlos Maneiro currently lives and works in his native Venezuela.
