Bogdan Chiritoiu’s work is a manifestation of power. Sensations, inspiration and emotion guide his hand without the aid of sketches or forethought. He attacks the canvas with gusto, palette knife in hand. Because of this spontaneous process, each work is unique, with its own magnetic force. Chiritoiu’s paintings are bold, beautiful and often startlingly expressive. We are entranced by the vivid colors and emotive textures, but what slowly reveals itself is how the deceptively simple imagery is actually loaded with meaning.
Chiritoiu’s work is rife with spiritual significance, and he covers the range of human emotion. We see lovers together under cosmic glory, and figures leaping and flying in joyful reverie, yet he also explores the fractured sense of self that comes with the fact of consciousness being housed in a fickle body. Through the creative process, Chiritoiu is reaching towards the ineffable. “My works are reflecting parts of the human soul,” he states. “My work will exhale love in its philosophical sense.”
