ANDREW K. CURREY

The Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition
August 22 - September 11, 2014
Reception: Thursday August 28, 2014 6-8 PM

Artist Andrew K. Currey uses drawing to address issues of anachronism and medieval history within contemporary culture. Interested particularly in armor as a psychological necessity, his carefully detailed graphite works on paper blend realism and illustration. Currey became interested in medieval history due to the influence of his family’s love of Renaissance Festivals, and counts as equally formative the few months he spent in Italy restoring 15th, 16th, and 17th century liturgical paintings for the Catholic Church.

Los Angeles-based Andrew K. Currey was born in Pueblo, Colorado into an Irish Catholic family.
