ALEXANDER CHURCHILL

The Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition
August 22 - September 11, 2014
Reception: Thursday August 28, 2014 6-8 PM

Subdued in tone but not in content, Alexander Churchill contrasts a softened palette with intriguing yet deeply ominous imagery of children in a powerful statement on the human condition. Churchill fills his surrealistic paintings with a characteristic skewed realism, revealing an unsettling sense of anxiety, subtle mistrust and uncertainty in relationships. Working in oil paints on canvas with a finely detailed brushstroke, the artist maintains a centralized focus on his characters against an expanse of grey.

Now living in Connecticut and a featured artist at the Southport Galleries, Alexander Churchill graduated from Green Mountain College in Vermont.
