Sensuous lines, textures and shadows interplay against abstracted backgrounds of sophisticated color in the highly unique paintings of Aktrice-Edith Egger. Incorporating the skilled techniques of the Renaissance painters into a contemporary imagining of emotional scenes, Egger ventures forth into new territories as a true artistic visionary. Capturing with breathtaking sensitivity the soft touch of shadow upon surface, Egger’s paintings portray a remarkable sense of naturalism; the illusion interrupted only by the painterly monochromatic backgrounds that characterize her work. This keen eye for detail reveals itself further in Egger’s poetic examination of contrasting subjects and materials: fragile versus durable, hard versus soft, light against dark, alive and inanimate. These stimulating juxtapositions create a heightened sense of drama, which reverberates just below the beautiful surface.
Aktrice-Edith Egger has formally trained as an artist throughout Europe and counts Titian, Rubens and Rembrandt, among others as some of her primary influences. A member of the International Art Association and the Artist’s Union, she lives and works in Carinthia.
