Tamar Rosen: Bloom

A new solo exhibition is coming to Gallery II, the elegant gallery space adjacent to Agora Gallery’s main exhibition area. Starting October 5 and continuing until October 26, with an opening reception on October 7, the work of artist Tamar Rosen features in ‘Bloom’.

This unforgettable artist specializes in delightful and appealing landscapes and still lifes. Visually stunning, these works bring the delicate beauty of nature inside, capturing the fleeting charm of ephemeral scenes and plants in all the richness of their prime.

Part of the memorable nature of the paintings comes from the lush colors used to depict nature’s glory, and the opulent forms created by Rosen’s supple brush. Yet part also derives from the sense she gives us that something previously hidden has been unveiled before our eyes, if we have the ability to grasp what it is. Figurative yet subtle, these are works that will leave you trying to peer still deeper into the scene laid out before you.

Rosen uses her artistic talent to create contained and desirable worlds for the viewer to examine and then inhabit. Absorbing and intriguing, her works invite the audience to come closer until they are swept up into the expressive power of her passion and paint.

The artist’s original career path was in the sciences rather than the arts, and this interest has its role to play in her current creations in animating her perception of humanity, and the importance she gives to the environment and its role in our lives. Her works will leave you feeling that you have never really appreciated the sights and colors of the natural world before.

This will be the fifth solo exhibition to be held in Gallery II, a recent addition to Agora Gallery’s premises in the heart of New York City’s art district, Chelsea. The previous shows featured the highly acclaimed work of Ruth Gilmore Langs, Paul M. Cote, Fred Mou, whose complex work of depth and symbolism can be seen until October 1, 2010, and Nathan Sawaya, the LEGO brick artist who will be presenting his latest work in the same location later in the year with an exhibition beginning on November 23, 2010 and running through until December 14, 2010.
