Divine Stardom: Lady Gioconda / a Solo Exhibition

It opens on November 22, 2013 and runs until December 13, 2013, with an opening reception on the evening of Thursday, December 5. Entrance is free and all art enthusiasts are encouraged to attend and enjoy this dynamic art.

Lady Gioconda, Gypsy Madonna

Lady Gioconda is an Italian artist who was deeply impacted by her experience of the art of the Italian Renaissance, whose aesthetics touched her heart in a way that has resonated throughout her life and art. She spent hours in the famous Uffizi gallery, soaking up the beauty all around her, examining the works in an intellectual, analytical way, but also with her emotional and sensory abilities. The result was a many layered appreciation which has entwined itself into the way she views the world and also the way she creates herself.

However, her art also has a distinctively contemporary edge. Bringing the colors and rich design elements of the Renaissance to a style that is also heavily influenced by the artistic movements of more modern times, the artist is able to create something entirely new, with the depth and compelling appeal of both. Rather than the traditional religious scenes of the past, she will express herself through modern day icons and celebrities.

Yet there is consistently a spiritual quality to Lady Gioconda’s work that cannot be quite defined nor denied. A spiritual connection to the structure of the world has colored her perspective from a young age, with both religious experiences and cultural references bolstering these beliefs. This has its own place in her art, as she forms her own way of seeing and appreciating the world, in both a physical and spiritual sense, and shares it with her viewers.

This is art which unites the sensuous, almost tangible physicality of the human form with the moving soulful quality usually associated with the eyes of subjects, to create images that hold all the transcendent quality of fine art, which can speak beyond cultural barriers and assumptions to reach another level, beyond the transience of matter.
