| De fotografie van Flora van Stek staat in de fotografische traditie die door de grote Amerikaanse fotografen rond 1950 is ingezet: Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams, Minor White en Harry Callahan. Als reactie op WOII en het hiermee gepaard gaande documentarisme in de fotografie, begonnen zij steeds meer nadruk te leggen op de irrationele en evocatieve aspecten van de werkelijkheid. Men noemt deze ontwikkeling in de fotografie ook wel ?verinnerlijking?. Aan de door de close-up verkregen, abstracte vormen werden metaforische waarden toegekend die sterk gelieerd waren aan de muziek. |
