I have always been attracted to art and its possibilities and have enjoyed using my ability to create. For a long time now I have focused my efforts on graffiti art, which I feel gives me the scope to explore in full and interesting ways. It allows me to dive into issues and deal with their essence, not reflecting cultural trends but rather getting truly involved in them. My work helps me to realize myself and my visions and gives me the scope to express my thoughts and hopes, connecting both to myself and to the world.

According to the Collins Essential English Dictionary, science is defined as "the study of the nature and behaviour of the physical universe, based on observation, experiment, and measurement". The same dictionary defines art as "human creativity as distinguished from nature". Based on these definitions, science and art are completely separate and unlikely to be combined. Not for me. I am a creative scientist and a scientific artist at the same time. I am able to see the world from many different perspectives, including yours, and transform this vision through the language of colours into unique pieces of work. I mainly use acrylic-based colours and canvas to express my vision.

Momentary emotions get reprocessed just when I create my pictures. To depict these moods I do need living (human) models! It is my aim to inspire people to detect themselves whilst watching my pictures. Sometimes, my pictures even might be able to tempt the viewers to recall memories, which they had suppressed and that had been drowsing somewhere hidden deeply inside. Most of my pictures get developed – apart from the photographing itself – mainly during re-working with Photoshop whilst sitting in front of my monitor screen. Consequently, the results and style of my artwork is highly influenced by my own temporary vagaries and emotions. From time to time even characteristics of my strong deism and godliness can be found in my art.

I have been painting since I was a child and have always loved artwork. I have been influenced and inspired by many Western artists, including Picasso, Da Vinci, Dali and Kandinsky. However, I have also been much influenced by growing up in a Communist country, albeit one with a non-aligned stance. The tension between state and religion when I was growing up produced conflicts which emerge in my work as strong passions. As I paint, I try to portray individual emotions of sadness, fear, disappointment and hope - especially since the recent conflict during the break up of Yugoslavia which had a significant impact on my life. I hope that I can express some of this through my art - the pain, the suffering, the joy and the hope. These are recurring themes for me and I want to share them with others.

For a few years now I have been working with typography and being minimalistic in realizing my ideas. In my opinion words have so much power and the most interesting thing is the different definition and feeling people have for them. When it's necessary from time to time, though, I'll underline the expression and emotion with color. I love my life and I´m an optimistic woman; I think you can reach your targets when you love what you are doing and work hard at it. I do work hard, and I think that I will never finish my work, because there are so many emotions I can visualize. In addition to that, I am constantly changing the colors and typography. Fantastic!

In the act of creation, one transcends the visible reality. Every true painting is the beginning of a new reality. This is an extreme change, like the transition between life and death, between the visible and the invisible. I am in a dream dimension, but a Dream as real as the Visible I left behind. The dream returns to be a part of a macrocosm: I meet people flying, birds speaking, trees reaching out with their branches to embrace – they are all my friends. The translation of my experience into a material representation is what takes an enormous amount of work.  The painting takes form: the colors replace my blood, form my thought. I love oil and pigments. I work with multiple techniques. I use watercolors, egg tempera, gouache, pieces of paper woven into the background, and, sometimes, an embedded leaf. A painting grows like a tree.

Emotions are images. I photograph them and translate them into paintings that capture Moments. My paintings are visual statements. I tempt and seduce the viewer with this visual language - just as I am tempted, seduced and moved by what I photograph and paint. In the creative process, I break away from the photographic logic so my work becomes no longer a record, but an event in and of itself. In this creative process, an image, free of its original source, becomes a connection between reality and imagination. My images begin in the realm of “collective memory” but I inseminate them heavily with "art-historical memory". In the end my DNA is all over my final images. My paintings mirror my mind, blood, and body. This process is a product of my creative orgy and my most sublime and orgasmic ecstasy. In my work, my flesh and blood, my life and my visions become and stay immortal.

During my long-lived therapeutical experiences as a homeopath, balance has always been my main topic, especially its effects on the human spirit, body and soul. My oil on canvas paintings are compensators. Every topic, the colours and composition of each single painting, are given to me in quiescence and are then transferred onto canvas. The interplay of the objective and the non–objective generates tension: You can find patterns if you look for them, but the real importance lies in the disconnection of the painting from possible associations. Apart from their positive effects on the atmosphere in the room, the painting also leads the viewer to his own inner life and feelings. If a painting appeals to someone in such a way, there is an inner resonance to the topic and the viewer finds mental balance at a deep emotional level.

My paintings are counted as experimental art, color-focused and largely abstract. The origins of my paintings are my experiences, adventures and memories, often related to nature and expressed in my own individual pictorial language. My creative process is protracted and very complex, because the mostly large-sized paintings on canvas or wood are developed in many different stages. Step by step, I apply acrylic, sand, collagen, paper rags or rusty steel with brushes or spatulas, rollers, sponges and even my hands. Later I use spray paint and stencils, followed by gentle repainting. Characters and figures are carved into the wet color or applied with ink to appear out of the depths of the pictorial ground. The mix of materials, sculptural character and secret hints included in the images mean that the paintings take viewers on an enthralling voyage of discovery into the world of the unconscious and the emotions.

I have an abiding interest in themes of mythology and spiritual symbols. My work has often included representations of characters from ancient myths, who act both in their ancient role and are invested with modern meaning. A key recurring trend in my current work is that of angels. The angels in my work are human as well as divine. Crucially, they offer hope, help and comfort, just as I hope that my works will have a positive influence on those who see them, causing them to pause and reflect but ultimately to find solace in the sight and in their own resulting reflections.

My pictures describe encounters and situations which arise from viewing photos or just from the imagination. With pencil, chalk and vigorous charcoal brushstrokes I express my feelings on paper. It results in spontaneous compositions swinging more and more like a rhythm. Here, I let my imaginations run wild, regardless of the subject and whether it is being expressed through realism or abstract expressionism. The important thing is that the image arises spontaneously, quickly. Contrasting colours, geometric arrangements of the subject and adding graphic elements (e.g. drypoint and wood block-print) contribute to the vitality of the entire work. In all my pictures, the graphic elements are in the foreground and they are the key to the overall impression.

Technically linked to the Old Masters, my pictures can be classified as Romantic Surrealism, influenced by the tiles of Iranian architecture, Persian stories and my love for flowers and poetry. The key thing, though, is that my pictures tell stories, the titles of which are intentionally chosen to provide a key for entering them. However, the unmistakable meaning slowly starts to unravel, since in my paintings none of the tales are really told to the end. It is left to the observer. It is only for him to bring the story to a conclusion. My art should guide the spectator to his own emotions and experience and results. There are as many possibilities to come to a conclusion as spectators exist.

I have always been greatly influenced by Expressionism, and I make it a point never to get stuck in any particular style or subject. The most important thing for me when it comes to my art is the desire to create something that reveals new possibilities, and this is always my driving intention. Form and abstraction remain in balance for me, both under my guiding aim. I often work in cycles, dealing with themes that have significant personal importance for me. This colors my work and gives it an added intensity, which in turn helps to make my work relevant to everyone who sees it.

My art is not determined by a specific style or technique and my artistic development is still evolving. My paintings reflect my inspiration and view of the world and my visual impressions emerging from dreams and experiences that melt into real and unreal images. The subject allows me to explain myself to the world, to express what I perceive and wish to communicate, it reveals the elusive part of my spirit and deep parts of the unconscious. Art is my source of the quest for self-knowledge and calls attention to what intrigues me: to discover a world of forms and colors in the phenomena and to make them visible in order to excite imagination.

To me, paintings represent empty spaces, in which things can recreate themselves. So there arise on canvas, paper or foil my very own adaptations of myths which have ripened throughout the centuries. By doing this, I consciously come face to face with coincidence, which I experience as something very uplifting. It can offer so much more than I could ever come up with alone. By being courageous enough to jump into emptiness, one can find a very profound beauty. Using drawings and pigments, I try to oscillate between control and delimitation. When I paint, I try to give structure to something which is chaotic and unfathomable. I try to transform it as a picture into a thing with the illusion of timelessness and the possibility, at the same time, of being graspable.
