Atousa Foroohary

|
“Capturing the world through my hands with the miracle of colors,” is how Atousa Foroohary describes the goal of her creative endeavors. Reveling in the endless varieties of natural beauty, Foroohary seeks to be the intermediary for which to express ineffable wonders of the natural world. She paints with heavy applications of color; foliage takes on a thick, vibrant appearance, the rivers reflect the surroundings beautifully, and the skies retain a weightless appearance. Foroohary will often complete a singular work on multiple panels; the effect is intriguing, as if relating to the viewer that our perception is always comprised of a series of impressions. Foroohary began painting in her early teens, yet it was her travels to Canada that inspired her to focus on landscapes. It is her artistic goal to create works that are true-to-life, depicting an unspoiled world that is filled with energy and wonder.

Louise L'OR

|
If drawings could speak, the work of artist L'OR would sing. Her canvas is an amalgamation of vivacious color and the vibrancy of life melding together a Rubenesque figure with an emphasis on the exotic. She reportedly seeks to provoke emotion from those who view her drawings bolstering a fine tuned appreciation for the sensuality of the human form while ministering an admiration for cultures other than her own. L'OR draws both from live models and from her mind's eye, peppering her canvas with a creative energy the viewer can truly feel. Her subjects are depicted in an atmosphere contingent with a far-off land, possessing an almost mythic quality existing in an aura of a dreamscape.
L'OR's drawings have a luminous nature radiating from the innumerable shades of the rainbow extending themselves to meet the eye. L'OR is master of translation, her attention to color and form create an image which is inherently potent and provocative.

Lynda Pogue

|
The evocative and inspirational works of award-winning Canadian painter Lynda Pogue lend themselves well to an air of personal meditation. These mixed media paintings are wonderful to behold, the variety of textures and strokes vacillate between substantial forms and airy, loose brushwork. Working in encaustics and water-based media with stylistic components that hearken back to traditional landscape painters, indigenous artists, and the Minimalists, Pogue uses her formidable artistic repertoire to create a soothing arena for her audience. The paintings act as a doorway between two individuals, “When showing another person one of my paintings, I stand exposed and vulnerable," she explains. “It’s now between the artist and the viewer. This is a powerful moment for me.” She has a long and diverse history in the arts as a student, consultant, teacher, and author.
Widely sought after, her work is in collections around the globe from South Africa to Spain. Pogue lives and works outside of Toronto, Ontario.
