Following his personal and innate creative impulse, Tetsuo Takashima expresses an intense interest in line as his primary artistic focus. Working in both abstract and simplified representational styles, Takashima’s Computergraphic Paintings reflect an uncanny sense of gesture not often seen in digital art. His use of simplified shapes and freely applied lines lends an innocent, almost childlike essence to each work, making their purely imaginative appearance even more appealing. Although Takashima incorporates such diverse subject matter as jungle animals, human figures, and even cosmic landscapes, the driving force behind each work is a desire to explore the unique expressive properties of line. While the line may guide the hand toward the representation of a real life object, of paramount importance in each work is the method by which it is created.
Tetsuo Takashima holds a degree in Engineering from Yamanashi University and has worked for 15 years as a freelance illustrator. He lives and works in Japan and has exhibited in Europe and Asia.
