Press Release
Saya is a seeker. She has devoted her life to exploring the very nature of being and a connection with all that is in nature. Correspondingly, Saya’s art forms appear elemental and organic at first glimpse. Upon further inspection these supremely sinuous and tactile forms concede gestural and representational qualities, affording them a wide variety of interpretations. Born in France, Saya has wandered many regions of the globe, and based on her travels, believes that humans, regardless of background, are all connected by fundamental feelings and qualities. Attracted by the St. Lawrence River, Saya moved to Quebec, yet by no means has settled down. She explains the motivations behind her art, “I wanted to express the weight of the human heart’s emotions through the animal language.” Her distinct style of art contains disparate qualities, the forms echo soft natural curves of flowing water and winds, yet betray a hardness and permanence, as they are cast in bronze. Saya lives and works in Quebec. Most recently, Saya has been awarded the Silver Medal for her sculpture "Vagabonde" at the Concours Gala international du Cercle des Artistes Peintres et Sculpteurs du Québec.
