Press Release
Relationships are the currents of humanity: to each other, to ourselves, to the Earth and the divine. Eva Bouzard-Hui understands this fact acutely and explores the multifaceted concept through sculpture, mixed media, photography and collage. Her aesthetic is distinctly human and playful, with layers of beautiful imagery for us to discover. Sympathetic faces, floral motifs, and intricate patterns dazzle the eye and speak to our innermost human nature.
Bouzard-Hui finds inspiration in many corners of life. From the natural world we find plants from land and sea, from civilization we see enjoy moments of reflection, and from the divine we glimpse a world that lies just beyond our vision of reality. The artist is not satisfied with but one style; her two-dimensional works are loose and driven by openness while her sculptural work displays a refined sense of form. Eva Bouzard-Hui has had a long journey in the arts, not only as a practitioner but also as a teacher, advocate, and gallery owner. She lives and works in Caldwell, New Jersey.
Artist Statement
I work in many different mediums, because experimentation and flexibility have always been very important to me, in life and in art. I create drawings, paintings, ceramics and photographs, and each different art form has its own attractions, restrictions and possibilities. Yet there is always a strong current that runs through all of my work, regardless of the medium I am using, and that is an exploration and depiction of the balance between various emotional states. I consider this to be fundamental to my personal artistic expression. In my art you will find both sadness and delight, balanced in mystery.
