Enigmatic Perspectives
January 8 - January 29, 2010 Reception: Thursday January 14, 2010 6-8 PM

Press Release

Alyssa Traub’s abstract paintings spring from an instinctual impulse, and confidently communicate to the viewer in their own distinctive tones and forms. Alyssa’s exploration of her subject matter conjures a wide range of textures and shapes, and it is through the coupling of vivid colors like sea-green, deep blue and autumnal gold, that she stirs up moods which range from contemplative to mournful to joyous. She often conjures a whirlwind of tones and shapes that race across and within the confines of the canvas, so that her paintings tap directly into the viewer's subconscious through a visual dance that occupies a space partly in the material world and partly in raw sensory experience.

Her work presents the essence of her passions, and we join her and complete the art with her. With radiant colors that present a holistic view of a living, interactive nature in all its vivid palette, Alyssa’s paintings are alive with the joy and enthusiasm she brings to her work.

Artist Statement

When people look at artwork they like, they immediately become connected to the work and feel good about it. We are all looking for meaningful connections with others. When creating my artwork, I want people to be able to become connected with any aspect of the work and make it their own. That’s what I believe great art is. My art is created for others to enjoy and interpret it as they see fit. I want my art to help others think about their relationships and the world by enjoying my art, take something from the colors and movement and implement it in their everyday life. Let my work take you to a place you have only thought about and then you will be able to understand what it is I do, and what I am trying to accomplish.
