Drawing inspiration from the overlooked beauty of the everyday, Indian painter, Urmil Jain's wondrous, billowing landscapes and scenes flow across her canvases as if seeping out from some distant point on the horizon. Somewhere between Symbolism and Surrealism, yet belonging wholeheartedly to a category all her own, Urmil's spectacular visions draw the eye into a dynamic cycle. The emotive force of each piece is immediately felt, after which subtle details and nuances of light and application emerge gradually.
The fantastical landscapes and characters in her paintings evoke Urmil's passion for writing fiction and poetry, yet she's content to leave most of their narrative up to viewers' imagination.
