Terry Wang

Terry WangTerry Wang

Terry Wang is an adventurer, packing up his art supplies and heading out to explore faraway lands that are rugged and remarkable. In particular, the regions of Tibet and Mongolia which he visits, but which are almost inaccessible, have rarely seen modern man. Here he finds purity, solitude, and communion with timeless natural forces. Wang renders these uninhabited mountainous landscapes with luscious strokes and bold colors. Rock formations are presented with a powerful physicality, reminding us of the eons that have shaped them. Yet Wang also commands an incredible sensitivity for portraits of the people he encounters and for the still-lifes he creates with fragile arrangements of brightly colored flowers. No matter the subject, through the act of creation he seeks an inner truth. “I enjoy being in tune with what is in my heart at the moment and defining it,” says Wang.

Terry Wang left behind a lucrative career in sales to pursue his love for art. He is now a professor and his paintings of Tibetan landscapes were collected and published in 2009. He lives in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
