Terrece BeesleyTerrece Beesley

In Terrece Beesley's technically stunning watercolor still lifes, the artist captures with an inquisitive eye and surprising sense of humor, the cultural signifiers of contemporary society and explores the quizzical interaction between natural and manmade objects.  Although Beesley works with the traditional mediums of watercolor and clayboard, her still lifes are anything but old fashioned; instead each of her paintings, filled with an assortment of knickknacks, presents the viewer with not only a personal vignette, but a cultural commentary. Long fascinated by both Pop and Photo realist painters like Andy Warhol and Chuck Close, Beesley borrows from each tradition to create a contemporary vision all her own. Working from photographs taken at unusual angles, Beesley paints with glimmering colors in a multitude of short, quick brushstrokes, creating lively, energetic paintings which are a refreshing contradiction to preconceived notions of still life.

Terrece Beesley lives and works near Salt Lake City, Utah and the award-winning artist has exhibited widely throughout the Western United States
